The mission of the “What’s In It ?” blog is to help consumers (myself included) make informed decisions when they purchase consumer products. I will list product ingredients (both active and inactive), inform the consumer about these ingredients, compare manufacturer prices, and thus assist the consumer in making informed and sensible purchases.
I decided to roll with this blog following a visit to my local Kroger store here in beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio. The store is located in the Hyde Park Plaza and is one of Kroger’s larger stores – great place to shop. I was there to purchase toothpaste, having just been examined by my dental hygenist and my dentist. What they told me was generally discouraging – two deep pockets requiring further periodontal treatment and antibiotics, two crowns that need to happen and minor tooth decay on two teeth. I will blog more about my dental history in my next blogs and then delve into toothpaste and what’s available and “What’s In It?”
So, I am at the store standing in front of the toothpaste section looking for a particular type of toothpaste and I quickly become frustrated because of the number of choices. I am all for having choices, but I am not one to spend more than a minute selecting an item, be it toothpaste or my cat Dottee’s favorite – catnip flavored Temptations.
I will distill the large selection of toothpaste available down to what the active and non-active ingredients are, why they are in the tube, what they do and what is the best cost to value based upon your dental needs.
Be well!
